From carpet speakers to SYRINX

I first became interested in high-resolution sound after getting Krypton's KS-1 HQM.
As a PC speaker, it had a built-in DAC, and was more than satisfied with the fineness and balance of other high-end speakers.

However, when I first created a carpet speaker, I experienced a different level of resolution and three-dimensional sound than conventional speakers, including the KS-1 HQM, and I could not return. Especially when playing songs full of sound, such as classical music, the sense of transparency in different dimensions seems impossible with a box-shaped speaker.

A carpet speaker without resonance is a revolutionary invention that achieves a clearer sound than conventional concepts. However, while the sound quality is excellent, the volume of bass sounds is an issue, and similar evaluations are often found when searching online.

I repeated the test and realized that the fundamental reason for the low carpet speaker's bass was not the problem of bass boost, but the opposite phase sound. In the first place, soft materials, including carpets, are light, so they transmit a considerable amount of sound. The sound leaks from the side only by winding the carpet. In addition, because the unit is placed directly on the carpet, reverse phase sound leaks from the gap. In particular, low frequencies are difficult to absorb and are easily diffracted, so they cancel each other out with the sound of the unit. In addition, sound leakage may cause sound turbidity.

The goal of SYRINX was to solve this carpet speaker problem and create better sound than any existing speaker.

The clue was architectural knowledge. First, the soundproof room is surrounded by non-resonant sound insulation material, and a sound absorbing material is attached inside. By doing so, the sound is reflected inside without leaking, and the sound-absorbing material prevents the echo.
SYRINXThe skin enclosure has the same structure. Flexible sound insulation material without resonance prevents sound transmission. The sound reflected inside absorbs sound quickly, and even the sound that could not be absorbed has little effect because the flexible enclosure does not generate sound.

At the same time, sound leakage from the mounting surface was carefully measured.

I don't think there has ever been a speaker that has lost such "out-of-phase sound," "reverberation," "resonance," and "resonance."
