A garage built in the heavy snowfall area of Niigata Prefecture. The first floor is a garage that can park four cars, and the second floor is used as a warehouse.
This small and unique architectural shape has rationalized the way to secure a parking frontage and to deal with heavy snowfall.
The frame in the short side direction uses a scissor-shaped structure (scissor strass) combining two trusses. The frame is usually used for the roof, but by using it on a vertical surface, the entire frontage is open so that the car can enter and exit smoothly. One-sided roofs drop snow into adjacent irrigation canals, allowing them to melt naturally. Furthermore, the slope of the wall on the snowfall side secures the passage during snowfall while protecting the building from snowfall.
