｜Shell ash plaster

Plaster was used for the ceiling and walls of each private room. Even if you say plaster in one word, there are really various products. However, most of them do not fully disclose the ingredients, and a small amount of synthetic resin or adhesive is mixed in to improve workability.

I wanted to stick to natural materials as much as possible, so I initially considered using scallop plaster as a product whose ingredients could be fully understood, but it was costly, so I finally adopted plaster made from baked ark shells from Ariake. did. Shellfish ash plaster is an ancient Japanese material surrounded by the sea. Today, plaster is mostly slaked lime (lime) made from limestone, but shell ash plaster is less waterproof than lime, but it has large particles, is sticky, does not crack easily, and has high humidity control, making it suitable for indoor use. It has suitable features.

The products are made by one of the few long-established shellfish ash manufacturers called “Tajima Kaihai Kogyosho” in Fukuoka Prefecture. The manufacturing method is also the old-fashioned method, and it is made entirely of natural materials such as this white shell ash, Susa recycled from jute bags, and ginkgo biloba harvested on the Sea of Japan side. It has deodorizing properties and is a safe natural material, yet the material cost is cheap at around 300 to 400 yen per square meter. ｜Egg Wall Light (Cross)

Some ceilings are covered with cloth. Instead of using ordinary vinyl cloth, I used Egg Wall Light, a natural material made from crushed and recycled egg shells from Kewpie's mayonnaise factory. The main ingredient is calcium carbonate, just like plaster, so it has humidity control.

The rough look resembles a painted wall rather than the so-called vinyl cloth texture. Although the texture is good, there is a little difficulty in workability due to large elongation and shrinkage. Since it is rough, I think it is a material that is easier to use for the ceiling than for the walls.

｜Oriental Carpet

The wool carpet in the living room is from Oriental Carpet, one of Japan's leading manufacturers.

The characteristic of this manufacturer is that they can custom dye any color even for such a small lot. Ready-made products don't have subtle colors, so being able to make a sensible order like this is useful when you're particular about colors. It takes time, so be careful when ordering.

In Japan, flooring is often used, and to be honest, carpets are unsanitary and unpopular.
However, wooden floors and tiled floors cause dust to rise every time you walk on them, making the indoor air environment worse. Fine particles can float around the room for hours before falling.
Carpets, on the other hand, temporarily absorb dust and prevent it from rising into the space. The dust can be easily sucked up with a vacuum cleaner. In other words, carpet has the effect of keeping the air clean and is recommended for hay fever and allergies.
It is warm in the winter and cool in the summer, and has excellent heat insulation properties, so it is highly energy-saving.

｜Italian stucco

The walls of the living room and hallway are made of traditional Italian stucco. The product is a product called ERA VENEZIANA from a company called Fresco Japan.

The flickering light transmission of the glass block is attractive, but it tends to be a rigid image of a square grid.
